Bandos Launches New Initiative for Human Resource Development

Bandos Island Resort has initiated a series of training and awareness programs on socio-economic, political and environment issues for employees of the resort. These programs are developed with the objective of building well-informed and responsible citizens, who are aware of events and developments in their country and elsewhere. This is the first initiative of its kind to take place in a resort, in the Maldives.

The program was inaugrated on 25^th November 2008 by the Minister of Human Resource, Youth and Sports as Guest of Honor. The Minister of Tourism also graced the occasion.

The trainings and awareness programs will include, but is not limited to workshops and discussion forums pertaining to human rights, Maldivian history, constitutional rights, local governance, civil society participation, business planning, proposal writing and environmental issues. Self- development packages are also in the pipeline focusing on positive thinking, conflict resolution, self-esteem development and stress management.

Participants who successfully completed the Windsurfing and Catamaran Instructor Training and Management Course in Bandos were awarded certificates at the same event. The course was conducted in collaboration with “Verband Deutscher Windsurfing und Wassersportschulen e. V. “ (Association of German Windsurfing and Watersport Schools).  VDWS is an internationally recognized school association for watersports that has about 1 600 members and attends 390 schools in 29 different countries.

Bandos is the winner of Presidents Award for Human Resource Development (2003). We have continuously facilitated employees to take part in short-term skills development and upgrading in the areas of front office operations, housekeeping, customer relations, food & beverage service, water sports & windsurfing training and management courses.
