If you are into guessing games, you will enjoy yourself immensely trying to guess where the Maldivian people originated from. All we can say is that this is a question that has remained unanswered for centuries, and has given many a historian several sleepless nights. The 300,000 people who populate the Maldives display a true mixture of features. This comes as no surprise considering that early settlers came from different parts of the world - Indians, Sri Lankans, Arabs, Portuguese, Malaysians, Indo-Europeans, Africans enough to confuse anyone.

Over the years though, the people have found their own identity, speak their own language and have formed traditions unique to the country. With their eclectic origins, the Maldivians make at attractive people. They are friendly and charming.
